"I began training with John Maglio at Elite Physiques the day after Labor Day 2003. At that time, I was recovering from a serious concussion that incapacitated me for almost two years and which has still left me with some continuing problems.During my incapacitation I became very sedentary. As a result, I gained fifty pounds. The weight gain only further complicated my condition.As a teenager I was in great physical shape and extremely athletic. I was confident about myself and very happy with the way my body looked. However, in my middle aged years, and because of the injury, I gained a lot of weight and also developed high cholesterol. A couple of weeks before I saw the sign I was contemplating retaining the services of a qualified personal trainer to help with my health and weight problems. In the past, I was always able to motivate myself to eat better and exercise. But after I gained so much weight I felt as if the task was too much for me to handle on my own. I wasn't confident that I could motivate myself to work out and eat right to get my health back on track.I didn't immediately act on my desire to retain a personal trainer. Quite frankly, I didn't know where to locate a qualified trainer. I didn't want to join a gym and have a trainer that trains multiple clients per session. We had a very productive conversation. John and I scheduled an appointment to meet so that I could see his facilities and discuss the services he provides.
I was very pleased by both the content and condition of his private gym facility. It was well equipped with a good balanced combination of weights, weight lifting equipment and numerous cardiovascular machines. The studio was also impeccably kept and very clean. I was even more impressed by John's extensive health and fitness experience. I found out that John was an accomplished bodybuilder who had won several large competitions. In fact, he also trained for several years with eight time Mr.Olympia Lee Haney. Moreover,John was the lead male advertising model for many years for GNC Nutrition and his photos have been ubiquitously displayed in all the GNC health and vitamin store.
John is not only an accomplished bodybuilder. He is also a professional ballroom dancer with over two decades of experience. In fact, he even won numerous events including the nostalgic "Dance Fever" show competition of the late 1970's hosted by Danny Terio.Fitness and personal training is clearly in John's blood. He is both a licensed personal trainer as well as a certified nutritionist. After I retained John as my personal trainer I was so impressed with his abilities and the results I was achieving that I decided to also have John become my nutritionist.
To date, I have lost over 32 pounds while training and watching my diet with John's assistance. I have been able to reduce my blood cholesterol level to within normal acceptable ranges and I have also reduced my waist size by 8 inches. My body fat index level has also been dramatically reduced. I feel a lot better than I did before I started training and when I don't train with John I feel many more of the symptoms and complications that I combat on a daily basis as a result of the severe concussion which I sustained.John's prices for his professional services are extremely competitive and reasonable. "About a year ago, I had been complaining to my parents about wanting to be healthier. My parents suggested that I start working out because weight was not my problem so much as being healthy and toned. At first I was not thrilled with the idea, and I had no idea how to use the equipment at a gym. Soon after, my father saw a sign for Elite Physiques and talked to John about being my trainer.
Since then, I have become a lot more toned, and I feel more healthy. The physical change in me also helped me to become a happier more confident person. "I can still remember the look on John's face when I first met him. Here I was I had just had my first baby and put on close to 70 lbs. on. It was Christmas 2000 and my husband bought me some personal training hours with him. It wasn't until March 2001 that I even had the guts to walk back into the gym. Keep in mind I had been doing cardio for over 10 years and had always stayed far away from the weights. In my mind weights made you bigger & bulkier. That was the last thing I needed at this point in my life. Was I wrong. I started doing weight training two times a week. Within a few months, I began to feel big changes. Not only did I feel physically stronger, but mentally I was in control.
After getting set in my workout routine which was 2 days personal training, and up to 6 days of cardio, I joined Weight Watchers and really put all the pieces of the puzzel together. Eating a low fat diet & exercise is the key to success. I can proudly say by the time my daughter was 9 months old I was back in my pre pregnancy clothes, and looking better. "I am the the father of a client of elite physiques. One and a half years ago I walked into Elite Physiques Personal Training to see if my son was old enough to begin training sessions. At the time Russell was five foot five and 260lbs. While he was a very talented and athletic and loved all sports he could never get over the stigma of being the 'fat kid' Comments like, 'wow he is pretty good for a big kid' or the snickering and joking about his running ability not to mention his health. "About a year ago I walked into Elite Physique, in Oceanside, based on the recommendation of a friend. I had nine months until my son's Bar Mitzvah, and I was very anxious to lose weight and to tone up. In the past, I had belonged (on and off) to other 'gyms,' but didn't go faithfully because I didn't like the fact that they were always crowded, I had to wait to use the machines, and there was never a trainer available to ask a question of if I needed assistance with the equipment. Also, keeping up with the latest in gym-wear 'attire' was not something that I was particularly interested in doing. Upon entering Elite Physique, I was struck with a few things, immediately. First, the facility is kept immaculately clean, and there is no evidence of that overbearing odor of people working out. Next, aside from the one client that owner, John Maglio, was training, there was only one other person in the place and he was on a treadmill doing his cardio. Now, the fact that Elite Physique seemed empty was certainly not because there are no clients. Elite Physique boasts a steady stream of clients. However, as the description 'personal training' denotes, while one client is being trained, there are no more than two other clients on treadmills, if that at all. Elite Physique truly caters to giving 'personalized' attention. There is a vast, but not intimidating amount of equipment to be found at Elite Physique and owner John Maglio designs the use of the equipment to meet the personal needs of each client, on an individual basis. In addition, the facility is climate-controlled and there is music playing and television sets to watch while you are on the treadmill.
After eight months of making that initial commitment to myself and to Elite Physique, I have lost forty-five pounds, a lot of inches, and am well on my way to having the toned body that I have been striving for. People who haven't seen me for a while are totally amazed at the transformation and some of them have, actually, become members of Elite Physique based on the terrific results that I have obtained. "I've have been training with John for almost six months and I have had experience major changes in my body. I look broader,leaner and more muscular. "I am pleased to write about the best birthday present I ever received....a training package with John Maglio!!! In August, 2003, my husband purchased 10 sessions for me as a surprise gift for my 53rd Birthday, and what a fabulous surprise it was!!! It took me about three weeks to actually schedule an appointment, since all I could envision was twenty-somethings running around a gym, in spite of my husband's assurances that this was "personal one-on-one training." When I finally got up my nerve to go, I found that I was actually ALONE, and had John's complete attention for the entire session!!! "I started working out with John in May 2003, and when I first started, I was afraid that I would be pushed past my limit and that I would hate it. I felt like I was being forced into something that I didn't want to be doing. "About a year ago I met John at the bowling alley were I work, I knew that my friend Mike had been training with John to keep in shape for bowling. My friend Mike told me that I should go down to John's place and work with him, so I talked to John and made an arrangement for my first training session. Well little did I know that it would be only the first of many, there is no one else in the world like John. I have to admit that I was never really into working out before I met John but he made me realize that it so important to be healthy especially when you are pursuing an athletic lifestyle.
John will train you harder, longer, and more intense then anyone else, and somehow he makes a half hour feel like a whole day. I have always been concerned about my own medical problems and how they affect me everyday, for example I had to have knee surgery in April of 2004 and I told John that I wanted to be back up on my feet as quick as I could so that I would still have time to practice bowling before I went to college. Well to my surprise with Johns help I was up and walking and training with him 2 weeks after my surgery. Without Johns help I would never have been able to make my way through the post surgical battle. John is the best there is and I am so great full to him for everything he has down for me, not only is he a great personal trainer but he is a great guy and one heck of a good friend to have."
